Chapter Fifteen
Helena watched Noelle leave the bed and head for the bathroom. They had made love throughout the night, and still she felt a pang of desire when she studied Noelle’s naked backside. Her mind whirled with the scattered memories of soft skin and sexy whimpers. She had virtually devoured Noelle, once she realized she was the most responsive lover she’d ever been with. Lover. Oh, God. Suddenly, Helena struggled to inhale. The idea of having someone like Noelle in her life, in her bed, exhilarated yet frightened her. She’s so much younger. Thirteen years, and I can’t be sure she’s really gay, can I? Plenty of bi-curious women out there who end up returning to male lovers once their curiosity has been satisfied.
Noelle crawled back into bed, a drowsy smile on her lips. “Morning.” She kissed Helena’s neck and let her lips paint a hot trail down to her shoulder. “What time is it?”
“Eight-thirty, I think.”
“Ah.” Noelle stroked Helena’s hair back, hovering over her. “You’re so beautiful.”
“In the morning, at my age?” Helena knew her laughter sounded forced.
Noelle frowned. “What do you mean, your age?”
“You look stunning no matter what hour of the day. I, however, don’t have that luxury anymore. I’m pretty sure I look pale, a bit haggard, and my hair a total mess.”
“Helena, what’s wrong?” Noelle sat up and, for the first time since Helena helped undress her, she covered her naked breasts with the bedsheet.
“Nothing. Nothing’s wrong. Breakfast?” She was close to panicking since Noelle seemed to have a sixth sense regarding her.
“Sure.” Noelle’s voice trailed off, and Helena knew she was confusing the hell out of her.
“I’ll just grab a shower first.” Helena hurried into the bathroom where she stopped in front of the mirror, not recognizing the woman staring back at her. Her hair was tousled, but she’d never been this radiant in the morning. Her normally calm gray eyes were only one shade away from blue, and her complexion glowed. Like Noelle, she possessed several tiny bruises and red areas from those moments when they’d become especially passionate.
She carefully brushed her fingertips over a nipple, which felt skinless. She gasped between her teeth. She’d never experienced a night like the previous one, either physically or emotionally. Helena’s defense mechanisms hit the red-alert button, and she stepped into a scorching shower, trying unsuccessfully to rinse the feel of Noelle off her body.
